Completion of the Final Phase of the “We Can” Project

The final phase of the “We Can” (WEE CAN) project, implemented by Al-Gad Foundation for Relief in collaboration with Benaa Al-Insan Foundation and supported by the Italian organization M.A.I.S, was successfully completed on January 23, 2022. The project, carried out over four phases between 2020 and 2021, aimed to empower and enhance the opportunities of Syrian and Egyptian women in the Egyptian labor market.

1. Study Phase:
A labor market study was conducted in 10th of Ramadan City and Damietta through field surveys of over 30 companies and factories, and by analyzing questionnaires completed by more than 200 women.

2. Training Phase:
A range of professional and life skills trainings were provided, benefiting participants as follows:

  • Professional Training Phase 1: 48 women
  • Professional Training Phase 2: 33 women
  • Financial Literacy Training 1: 40 women
  • Life Skills Training 1: 48 women
  • Financial Literacy Training 2: 20 women
  • Life Skills Training 2: 15 women
  • Small Project Management Training: 97 women
  • Life Skills Training 3: 78 women
  • Life Skills Training 4: 10 women
  • Administrative Training for staff and large projects: 25 participants

3. Small Projects Grant Phase:
Equipment was provided to 93 small projects initiated by 97 women, with each project receiving €500 to start their own businesses.

4. Support for Large Projects Phase:
Equipment was provided for two educational center projects in Damietta, valued at €5,000 each.
